Look at this portrait of Shah Jahan with bejeweled musket. Even if you did not know he was the emperor, several characteristics indicate he is someone important. Notice his head surrounded by a golden nimbus, with rays emanating in all directions. Around his turban and neck are strands of pearls, rubies and emeralds. He carries a very ornately decorated dagger, sword and shield.  Such is the image of Shah Jahan—“King of the World”.
