Free, 1 pm Tuesday through Sunday Exhibition tickets required-meet at the entrance to the exhibition.
Sixteen extraordinary objects spanning 5,000 years of Chinese creativity are on view for the first time to the public. Join one of the Museum’s docents for a look at these amazing works of art so beautifully conceived and executed.
Free, 10:45 am and 11:15 am Tuesday through Friday.
Students will explore selected objects from the featured exhibition, Rising Dragon, and the permanent Chinese collection of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Using an interactive Looking Tool, students will look closely and make observations about various objects; analyze artworks in the context of the world in which they were created; and compare and contrast traditions and art forms of the past.
Free, contact the Tour Scheduler to reserve your tour time, Tuesday through Sunday
Adults are invited to tour the new featured exhibition, Rising Dragon. Adults have two choices in their experience of the exhibition. 1) Schedule a featured exhibition tour only with a Museum Docent. The Docent will discuss the objects on view and inform on Chinese culture as it relates to the afterlife, arts and leisure and social traditions and customs. 2) Experience the featured exhibition and our permanent collection with a Museum Docent. Using a Looking Tool (see “School Tours” for a complete description), adults will be encouraged to look closely and make their own observations about select objects and then compare and contrast them to objects in the permanent collection.
Please let the Tour Scheduler know which experience your adult group would like.
