Paine's Dendroids have evolved from
straightforward stainless-steel trees to radical
inventions and aberrations to twisted and writhing
forces of nature. His decision to call his sculptures
Dendroids stems from his passion for
indeterminacy and his quest for the ambiguous.
Five key Dendroid models will be presented,
including
Model for Ferment, a 54-inch version of
Paine's 56-foot sculpture, to be installed in the
Kansas City Sculpture Park this April.
