A Tree Above the Rest

big_tree.jpg

The Kansas City Sculpture Park is a popular destination in KC. People love to come out in all kinds of weather to walk on the paths, have picnics or play with their kids/dogs/Frisbees. The south lawn is a great spot to people watch on busy days.

Yesterday, I had the chance to visit part of the Park that I haven't been to in a while. The very southeast corner where Rockhill Road and Emmanual Cleaver II Boulevard meet is one of the only areas of the Park that wasn't affected as much by the construction of the Bloch Building. It was quite distressing to see all the trees that had to be removed during the construction so I was pleased to see this beauty (above) standing proudly.

The area is technically called the East Hill and it contains a handful of scultpures by Henry Moore including Sheep Piece and Three Bowls by Ursula von Rydingsvard.

Might I make a suggestion? It could be just my computer and the way it is ordering the posts, but if the posts are listed with the most recent post closest to the banner then it would appear that the blog is active. I thought that the 2006 post at the top was the most recent. I am interested in the other posts so I scrolled down, but I could see how others would visit once then not again b/c it looks inactive.

So...that's my suggestion. Now...I visited the museum and park this past weekend, and LOVED it. Very interactive. Loved the campus in particular. The pathways flow around the park even over green roofs, which my husband and I were in awe of. I have a few photos currently on my blog of the shuttlecocks.

Sherrie,

Thank you for your comment. I am not sure how you are accessing the blog, but it should appear in order with the most recent posts first.

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to the Nelson-Atkins and the Sculpture Park. Great pics on your blog!

Sherrie:

Don't feel compelled to post this.

I figured out why it appeared on my computer w/ posts from 06-08 rather than 08-06. When I click on the "KC Sculpture..." link at the bottom of this page http://www.nelson-atkins.org/home/blog.cfm, the begin at 2006. But when I click on "Main" on the blog they reorder to begin with 2008.

Maybe this will help. Glad you liked the pics. I will be posting more in the next few days.
