Inspired by the works of acclaimed fashion photographers Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, and Mario Testino, I worked toward making my own set of fashion portraits. In my photos I used models of younger ages, such as my twelve year sister and eighteen year old friends, to reflect how models and fashion photography are influencing the minds of younger girls in terms of appearance. These young models are living the so called "life" that each young girls dreams to live in my photos, but why are they not smiling? Like Penn, Avedon, and Testino I sought express a deeper meaning with the portraits than just the clothing, I sought to convey the emotion and insecurities of the young models in the photos as well.
