School & Teacher Services—Scheduling Guidelines
Guided Tours
Tours must be booked three weeks in advance using the Tour Request
Form.
Workshops are offered throughout the school year from October 1st until May 31st.
- Available Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
- Times: See Request Form for available time slots. Tour
times must be pre-arranged. - Cost: FREE!
- Chaperones: One (1) adult must accompany every
15 students. - Group Size: With some exceptions, a maximum of 60
students can be scheduled for each tour.
Teacher-led Tours
School groups are welcome to visit the Museum on their own.
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art asks that all teacher-led tours
be scheduled. PLEASE NOTE: If the Museum has reached the
maximum attendance and your group has not been scheduled, your
group may not be admitted.
- Teacher-led groups will be admitted at pre-scheduled times in
the morning or afternoon. - Teachers are asked to complete the teacher-led portion on the
Request Form (see below for complete instructions). - Students are NOT allowed to tour independently. One adult
must accompany each 10 students under the age of 18. Groups
without sufficient adult supervision will not be admitted. - A written confirmation will be mailed to you along with
guidelines for your teacher-led visit.
Studio Workshops
Workshops must be booked three weeks in advance using the
Workshop Request Form.
Workshops are offered throughout the school year from October 1st until May 31st.
- Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
- Times: 10:00-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-2:00 p.m.
- Cost: $6.50 per student
- Chaperones: One (1) adult for every 15 students.
- Group Size: 15 students minimum, 105 students maximum. Groups with fewer than 15 students may book a workshop only if the Museum receives payment for the 15 students required.
- Checks, purchase orders and institutional credit or debit cards are accepted. Please bring payment on the day of your workshop.
- For Tour Combinations all groups should arrive at 10 a.m. for a morning tour and a 45-minute break followed by a second tour. The day concludes at 1:15 p.m.
- For Tour & Workshop Combinations all groups should arrive at 10 a.m. for a morning activity and an hour-and-a-half break followed by the second activity. The day concludes at 2 p.m.

Tour & Workshop Request form
- Request form must be completed in its entirety.
- The form must be received a minimum of three weeks before
your workshop or tour. - You will receive written confirmation when your Museum visit
has been scheduled.
