European Art: 17th and 18th Centuries

Students will identify how artists expressed the cultural, political, economic, religious and social climate of this time. Influences include the Counter Reformation and the development of the art market in the Netherlands. Paintings, such as Caravaggio’s Saint John the Baptist, sculptures and decorative arts will be included.

Appropriate for grades: 5th-12th

Maximum Size: 75 students

School tours are FREE, one hour and 15 minutes in length and are available for grades 2-12.

School groups may bring sack lunches and picnic on the grounds of the Kansas City Sculpture Park. Teachers are responsible for making alternate arrangements in inclement weather. There are limited facilities for students who are scheduled for an All-Day Visit to eat sack lunches inside the Museum. Request to eat indoors must be made at the time of registration and are on a first-come, first-served basis.
