Sign-up Online for School Workshops The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art’s studio workshops encourage interaction by inviting students to look at, analyze, experience and create art.

Using National Visual Art Standards as a foundation, each workshop combines a gallery learning activity with a related art process in the Ford Learning Center. These 90-minute hands-on workshops for Pre-K through 12th grade will complement and enhance your curriculum.

The cost of Studio Workshops is $6.50 per student with a minimum of 15 students.  Also, one adult must accompany every 10 students.

Lunch
Rozzelle Court Restaurant offers $7.25 box lunches for school groups. Orders must be placed and paid for in advance. Call 816.751.1234 or email events@nelson-atkins.org.

School groups may bring sack lunches and picnic on the grounds of the Kansas City Sculpture Park; there are no facilities for students to eat sack lunches inside the Museum. Teachers are responsible for making alternate arrangements in inclement weather.

P, K-2 Shape Up! Draw, paint and collage to learn about shapes
P, K-1 Line Around - Use line variety to create an imaginative sculpture
1-4 Mythical Creatures - Invent a mythical creature in a mixed media collage
1-4 Dragons! Sculpt a three-dimensional dragon using clay
2-4 Museum Safari - Sculpt and paint a three-dimensional animal form using clay
2-8 Life in 3-D Manipulate papers and wire to create a sculpture in the round
2-6 American Indian Patterns - Create a “parfleche” utilizing gallery inspired colors, shapes and patterns
3-6 Masks - Build a colorful, three-dimensional mask
7-12 Creating Landscapes- Develop a landscape composition that incorporates collage, watercolor and drawing
6-12 Landscape Scrolls - Create a Chinese scroll inspired by the Museum’s collection of Eastern and Western landscapes
7-12 Art and Photography - Create a mixed media collage
7-12 3-D Exploration - Construct a relief sculpture with high-relief and low-relief elements
3-6 Featured Exhibition Workshop: Monet and Mixed Media
7-12 Featured Exhibition Workshop: Mastering Masks
