Friday Night Fun

See a fabulous African throne decorated with mermaids, beaded chairs and sculptural stools in the exhibition Through African Eyes. Construct a model for your own chair design working with an assortment of materials as you work with the connection between form, function and decoration.

CAPTIVATING CUPS
Ages 7–12 with adult
6:30–8:30 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 15
Cost is $40 per adult-child pair.
Museum members receive a 20% discount.

Visit the Project Space exhibition Forever, in which contemporary artist Clare Twomey, inspired by the Museum’s collection of English pottery, creates a gallery installation of ceramic drinking cups – more than 1300 of them! Then make your own cup motivated by what you see. Participants will glaze and leave their work to be fired. Finished pieces will be available for pick-up beginning Oct. 29.

TRANSFORMERS
Ages 6–12 with adult
6:30–8:30 p.m.

Investigate the process of transformation that occurs when you wear a disguise and see amazing masks – even one of Elvis! - in the featured exhibition Through African Eyes. Work with found objects and other materials to create a mask that represents a character that you wish to be.

GOOD DAY SUNSHINE
Ages 7-12, with adult
6:30-8:30 p.m.
Friday, November 19
Cost is $50 per adult-child pair.
Members receive a 20% discount.

Look for patterns and radial designs featuring the sun, then create an original clay sun tile to decorate the garden. Participants will glaze and leave their tile to be fired. Finished tiles may be picked up beginning Dec. 4.

BRILLIANT BANNERS
Ages 6-12 with adult
6:30-8:30 p.m.
Friday, December 3
Cost is $50 per adult-child pari.
Members receive a 20% discount.

Visit the Japanese gallery to see hanging scrolls and an assortment of beautiful patterns inspired by nature. Then work with fabric paint, markers and more to design your own decorative hanging banner.


PLEASE NOTE: Students must have already turned the specified age of the class in which they wish to enroll. 

Enrollment is open for the following classes and workshops.

The date listed is the date a class begins or a workshop meets. Click on the class title for a description and to complete your enrollment.

Enrollment deadline is one week prior to a class or workshop. Classes that do not reach a minimum enrollment will be cancelled and fees refunded.

If a class is full, it will be marked as SOLD OUT. You may contact the Museum or call 816.751.1ART to put your child on a waiting list. People on the list will be called in order if there is a cancellation.

CANCELLATION, REFUND AND TRANSFER POLICIES – PLEASE READ!

CANCELLATIONS: Students can cancel an enrollment 5 business days prior to a class or one-time workshop to receive a refund less a $15 cancellation fee per enrollment. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than 5 business days prior.

TRANSFERS: If switching an enrollment from one class/workshop to another, a $10 transfer fee will be incurred on a per student/per class basis. Please feel certain of your schedule and class selection before enrolling to avoid incurring this charge.

CLASS CREDITS: We do not issue credits toward future classes or workshops if you cancel an enrollment or miss a class.

Thank you for your adherence to the above policies. Your cooperation helps the Museum offer all patrons the opportunity to participate and offsets service costs such as credit card banking fees.
