A Museum Guide at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is a trained volunteer who gives introductory tours to the Museum and its collection. Adults, 21 and over are welcome to apply for this competitive program. Guides are also located throughout the Museum in designated galleries to offer Museum and collection information to visitors. Guides provide their services primarily on evenings and weekends for adults.
Training is a two to three month commitment that includes basic art history and focused collection information. Classes meet one evening per week for three to four hours. Once a Guide has successfully completed the initial training, they have the opportunity to train for additional adult tours as needed by the Museum.Expectations and Requirements of a Museum Guide (PDF)
