American Indian Galleries Opening

November 2009

Celebrate the dramatically expanded installation of more than 200 works in the new American Indian galleries in November 2009.

Two weekends of events, tours and special programs begin with Member Weekdend Nov. 6 to 8 and conclude with the public celebration Nov. 14-15.

A Sparkling Night: A Toast to Our 75th

December 11, 2008

Museum members will enjoy a special private celebration with a champagne toast and an exciting major announcement.

  • 6:30 p.m., Society of Fellows and Business Council Reception and Preview Tour of American and American Indian Wing
  • 7:15 p.m., Champagne Toast in Kirkwood Hall for all Members
  • 7:30 p.m. Self-guided tour of selected works that transformed the Museum’s collection

Celebrate our 75th birthday

 

American Art Galleries Opening

April 17-19, 2009

The new galleries of American art will be unveiled for Museum members the weekend of April 17 to 19.

Members will see their first glimpse of a new Grand Hall and galleries that are organized around six key moments in American history, from 1776 to the 1940s.

A public symposium will gather some of the country’s greatest American art historians, and kick off a summer of related programs.

American Symposium

April 18, 2009

In celebration of the reinstallation of American paintings, sculpture and decorative arts, this symposium will feature eight noted voices in the field of American art history responding to some of the greatest treasures in the Museum’s collection.
