Explore portraiture in front of the Nelson-Atkins’ greatest painted and sculpted works. This class for all skill levels gives students the opportunity to learn and discuss realistic portrait drawing concepts and techniques. Class time will be divided between demonstrations, discussion, and drawing practice with instructor input in the museum galleries. Topics will include: proportions and construction of the facial features and skull, composition, mark-making and the effects of light and how to shade. All materials provided.
