Contemporary artist Thomas Demand is internationally renowned for his large-scale conceptual photographs. Using cardboard and paper, Demand reconstructs photographic images culled from various sources as three-dimensional scenes. He photographs the models, and then destroys them, calling into question the relationship between photography, artifice, and truth.
Demand will be speaking about his work in a free public lecture, sponsored by The Photography Society in conjunction with the exhibition The Big Picture: A Transformative Gift from the Hall Family Foundation.
