In partnership with Johnson County Library’s Race Project KC, Kansas City native and genderqueer filmmaker Carrie Hawks presents the award-winning, short, animated documentary, black enuf*.
Analyzing the quest for “blackness,” Hawks’ film takes you on a humorous and thought-provoking journey for belonging. Hawks says, “seeking approval from Black peers, despite a serious lack of Hip-Hop credentials, and a family that ‘talks white’, the quest for undeniable acceptance of my racial identity takes me from Missouri to New York, and halfway around the world”.
Q&A with Hawks to follow.
