Museum Recovery Fund
These are unprecedented days in our world. At The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, our doors are closed to the public and to most museum staff as we fight the spread of the coronavirus. Yet our work continues onsite and virtually. We are maintaining our facilities, keeping the art you know and love safe and secure, and looking to the future to ensure the long-term vitality of the museum.
Though none of us can be in our galleries during this temporary closure, we are working hard to bring our galleries to you. Visit Nelson-Atkins@Home to take virtual tours, learn from our exceptional staff, and get creative with art activities and coloring pages. Check back frequently for fresh content.
As our doors remain shut and markets fluctuate, we are confronting large declines in our three funding sources: earned revenue, donations, and endowment returns. We are doing everything we can to reduce our budget—eliminating programming, forgoing exhibitions, and reducing staff work schedules and salaries. Despite these sacrifices, we need critical support to remain viable and whole and to plan for a reopening as soon as the time is right.
COVID-19 has affected each of us in profound ways, and we all see great need around us. If your circumstances allow, please consider supporting your museum during this critical time.
Your investment in this fund secures our greatest assets: our dedicated staff, our world-renowned art collection, and our beautiful grounds. Help us honor our commitment to Kansas City while we work harder than ever to be a source of solace and inspiration.
