A Frame of Mind

A Frame of Mind season 2, premiering this February, deepens its look at race in America through the lens of art.

In the five years since the murder of George Floyd and the first season of the podcast, seismic social, political, and economic shifts continue to reverberate across our communities. But how much has really changed—in terms of racial and social justice, allyship, and equity? In these uncertain times, can art be an antidote for us as individuals and as a society?

Over five episodes, poet and Kansas City community leader Glenn North takes us on a journey grounded in conversations with artists and community members that examine belonging, genealogy, migration, identity, and reclamation using the Nelson-Atkins’ collections and poetry. Along the way, we’ll look at how art can help us make sense of complicated histories and how museums can inspire transformational change.
