Nelson-Atkins Director of Finance Receives Award

Tammy Bluhm Named a CFO of Year by KC Business Journal
Kansas City, MO. June 7, 2016–The Director of Finance at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is one of eight local individuals named CFO of the Year by the Kansas City Business Journal.

This award is well-deserved, and she has earned it with years of hard work,” said Julián Zugazagoitia, Menefee D. and Mary Louise Blackwell CEO & Director of the Nelson-Atkins. “Tammy has worked diligently to maintain the financial integrity of the Nelson-Atkins, and she is a collaborative team player whose dedication, abilities and leadership are greatly valued.”
Bluhm has been the museum’s Director of Finance for six years and her team is responsible for the more than $27 million that crosses the operational threshold annually. Her team oversees the museum’s endowment, which allows the museum to accomplish its mission of serving the community. Bluhm collaborates closely with the museum’s Board of Trustees, Finance, Audit and Investment committees.
“I am so honored to be recognized in this way,” said Bluhm. “I truly believe in the mission of the Nelson-Atkins and am grateful for the tremendous support of our many donors.”
Bluhm’s team is committed to the continued goal of translating efficiencies garnered across the institution through the use of distributed software, financial training of other departmental staff, and continued focus on providing the tools to governance to assist in informed, effective and efficient decision making.
Bluhm received her degree in Business Administration from Kansas State University. Before coming to the Nelson-Atkins, Bluhm worked at Johnson County Community College and Big Lakes Developmental Center, Inc., in Manhattan, Kansas, and the American Public Works Association.
All winners will be honored at a luncheon hosted by the Business Journal June 9.

The Nelson-Atkins in Kansas City is recognized nationally and internationally as one of America’s finest art museums. The Nelson-Atkins serves the community by providing access and insight into its renowned collection of nearly 40,000 art objects and is best known for its Asian art, European and American paintings, photography, modern sculpture, and new American Indian and Egyptian galleries. Housing a major art research library and the Ford Learning Center, the Museum is a key educational resource for the region. The institution-wide transformation of the Nelson-Atkins has included the 165,000-square-foot Bloch Building expansion and renovation of the original 1933 Nelson-Atkins Building.
The Nelson-Atkins is located at 45th and Oak Streets, Kansas City, MO.
