C100
Committee of 100 Luncheon

THE MISSION

The Committee of 100 is dedicated to planning and implementing signature fundraising events for the benefit of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

WHO WE ARE

The Committee of C100 (C100) is an organization of volunteers who heartily believe in the mission and activities of the museum and are dedicated to helping grow the museum’s attendance. Those who experience the museum come away with a deeper appreciation of the intersection of art and history. As a result, they become committed to keeping the museum free and accessible to all and take every opportunity to enhance the museum’s programs and collections.

THE HISTORY

The C100 was formed in the summer of 2012. The original charge from Sarah Rowland, then Board of Trustees Chair of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, was to identify and develop a signature fundraiser that could be an annual event to support the museum. An ad hoc committee was chaired by Joan Marsh with members: Ann Baum, Mary Lou Brous, Karen Craft, Shirley Helzberg, Daisy MacDonald, Jeanne Sosland, and Liza Townsend.

From the committees’ research, the idea evolved to create a dedicated support group that would plan and execute events held on behalf of the museum. The plan to invite 100 members to form this group was initiated. The response was resounding…over 500 people joined as Charter Members. The Committee of 100name remains as a reminder of the abundance of enthusiasm generated from the outset.

The C100 Luncheon is an annual fundraising event to benefit the mission of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.  It was inspired by, and modeled after, two very elegant and successful luncheon events in New York City which benefit the New York Public Library and the New York Central Park Conservatory.

The C100 Luncheon is our city’s premier luncheon event held each September at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.  Guests gather for a welcome reception on the East Terrace of the Sculpture Garden. They then enjoy a presentation from a well-known designer in the Visual Arts. Lunch is served in the stunning Kirkwood Hall with thoughtful attention to every detail for visual delight and a delicious meal. All of this celebrates the joy of friendship and the value of the museum’s mission to our community.

MEMBERSHIP

Those who come to enjoy the museum, experience how art and history enhance their lives and their travels. As a result, they grow in their commitment to keeping the museum free and open to everyone and to enhancing the programs and collections.
